Meet Elizabeth Stewart Clark

I’m Elizabeth Stewart Clark, a clothing designer specializing in dressmaking—design, pattern work, fittings, and the careful sewing details that make a garment feel truly made for you. I create dresses for clients who want something personal: a silhouette that flatters, fabric that feels right, and a finish that looks polished up close and in motion.

My work is rooted in craftsmanship. I care about the structure under the surface—how a bodice supports, how seams shape the form, how a skirt moves when you walk, and how comfort and elegance can exist at the same time. Every project begins with understanding the occasion and the person wearing the dress, then translating that into a design that feels confident and uniquely yours.

Craft & Experience
Patternmaking, fittings, and construction-first design
My foundation is built on the essentials of sewing and garment construction: accurate measuring, drafting or adapting patterns, shaping, and refining fit through fittings. Over time, I’ve developed an approach that balances creativity with precision—so the final dress doesn’t just look beautiful on a hanger, it fits beautifully on the body.

I’m especially attentive to the details that elevate a custom piece: clean seam finishes, secure closures, thoughtful lining, subtle structure where it’s needed, and tailoring that makes the entire look feel effortless.
